‘Alvaro Morata warns Diego Costa’

Thursday 7 September 2017

Spain haven’t yet sealed their qualification for the 2018 World Cup, but they are close.

It’s been an excellent international break for Spain as they chalked up back to back wins over Italy and Liechtenstein.

Indeed, La Roja scored 11 goals in their past two matches while conceding zero.

On Tuesday night, in a match of men against boys, Spain destroyed minnows Liechtenstein in an 8-0 thrashing.

Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata scored twice in the Liechtenstein game.

Morata is now the top goalscorer for Spain in their World Cup qualifying campaign.

The Chelsea new boy has five goals along with Diego Costa and Man City’s David Silva.

Alvaro Morata v Diego Costa

The likes of Spanish paper AS seem to be intent in driving a wedge between Alvaro Morata and Diego Costa on Wednesday.

That’s after they’ve published an article titled “Alvaro Morata warns Diego Costa”.

Of course, Morata never mentioned Diego Costa on Tuesday night. Instead, after the Liechtenstein game he simply said:

The important thing is that the team has won and we have fewer matches.

The Spanish press appear to have twisted those quotes as if Morata threw a challenge down to Diego Costa.

In doing so they suggest that Costa may be too focused on his own situation rather than considering how his actions affects the Spanish team at large.

Diego Costa & Chelsea

In the past twenty-four hours, mixed reports have come out over Diego Costa’s possible return to Chelsea.

Reports did the rounds on Tuesday that Costa, who has been spending time in Brazil during the summer, has returned to the English capital.

However those suggestions have been rejected by the Mirror on Wednesday morning. The tabloid has stated that Costa has not returned to London.
