The Red Devils have been tracking the Wales international since his days with Southampton, and he continues to be linked with a switch to Old Trafford. Sir Alex Ferguson had tried to pursue Bale prior to his move to Tottenham Hotspur while David Moyes was similarly unsuccessful in persuading the Welshman, who opted to join Real Madrid in the summer of 2013.
“The truth is that I do not read any of that. Logically I am a British player and I am always linked with a return home,” Bale told the Spanish outlet. “It happened with Beckham, with other Englishmen who came to Spain. Nothing new. I am happy playing in Madrid, logically interest is interest, but if there has been nothing concrete, no offer, there is nothing to discuss,” the Welshman concluded.
However, Spanish outlet Don Balon has now claimed that the former Saints graduate has a secret agreement with Manchester United which could see him join the club at the end of the season. Real Madrid are hot on the trail of AS Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe, and his arrival could push the winger towards a Bernabeu exit next summer. Bale managed just 27 games in an injury-hit campaign for the European champions last term, bagging nine goals and five assists in the process.
