Manchester United have made an “unbelievable” new signing, according to Coventry City’s head of academy.
Charlie McCann, reportedly a Manchester United supporter himself, has signed for the club’s academy from League Two Coventry as part of a overhaul headed by former midfielder Nicky Butt.

McCann, 15, spent eight years at Coventry and had made his way in the England set up, making his debut for the under-16s against Uruguay in July and scoring against Qatar just days later.
And Coventry’s head of academy Rich Stevens admits it was hard to let McCann go.
“When a big football club come knocking, and it is the club that Charlie supports, you must let him go and have that experience,” he told the Coventry’s official website.
“We did not want to sell him, we did not need a fee for him even though there was a fee involved.

“Charlie goes with complete support from me and the rest of the staff from the academy. He has been unbelievable for us, even making his England debut back in August.”
McCann joins Arnau Puigmal, Largie Ramazani and Millen Baars as United’s new academy players signed so far this season.
