After travelling to Atletico Madrid on Wednesday evening, Chelsea will come up against Serie A giants Roma at Stamford Bridge on October 18.

While the Premier League champions have been handed a tough draw, it is one the Italian believes they can progress from.

If his side do indeed make it through to the knockout stages, Conte would like to avoid the possibility of coming up against former club Juventus and Napoli.

"I think Roma has all the cards in place to go ahead," the former Italy manager told Radio Anch'io Sport in his home country.

"I do not think we were lucky in the draw, ours is one of the most difficult teams.

"Atletico has a great deal of experience, we have returned with so much enthusiasm and want to do our best.

"Roma is a team that can compete in Italy for maximum goals and can do well even in the Champions League.

"We must think step by step, so before we go past the round of Champions.

  1. Why not; like any other team in the world, they can be beaten. I am positive and optimistic that Chelsea will perform very well; all they need to do is go there with positive mind set that they will win. We started very and hope to continue with this positive pomposity; I foresaw Chelsea reaching the final.
