Yesterday, Daily Star covered an exclusive report and claimed that Mourinho is closing in to finally secure his signing. The British source have mentioned that progress is being made and Jose has told Ed Woodward to secure a £48million ($63million) deal to sign Ivan.

The 28-year-old left winger scored 11 goals and provided 11 assists for the Nerazzurri in the Serie A last season.

It must be remembered that in the past five seasons, Perisic has not played in the UEFA Champions League. The last time he featured in the tournament was with German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund under the management of current Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

As per the provided Daily Star link, United have been linked with Gareth Bale as well but Mourinho specifically wants to sign Perisic and not the Welsh superstar.
