INTERESTING; Not Fabinho or Matic: United open talks with top class defensive midfielder

Manchester United have opened talks with Marco Verratti’s representatives over a potential summer transfer, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

He’s one of the most coveted midfielders in world football and Barcelona have openly admitted their desire to acquire his services from Paris Saint Germain.

Verratti was forced to issue an apology for comments made by his agent regarding a proposed move to the Nou Camp, however, it seems like an Old Trafford move could also be on the cards.

He claimed he was happy to stay at PSG, focusing on his preparations for the upcoming season, but speculation surrounding his future has still not slowed down as he’s been linked with many clubs.

United scout Jose Mayorga has allegedly held talks with Verratti’s entourage as he’s been scouted for several months and the club remain keen to make him their third signing of the summer.

Mourinho has been heavily linked with the likes of Eric Dier, Fabinho and Nemanja Matic as he hopes to bolster his midfield options and it seems a deal for Verratti could be progressing as he hopes to find someone before the end of the window.
