Man United beat Real Madrid

Manchester United picked up another pre-season win on Sunday night, as they beat Real Madrid in a penalty shootout.

Jesse Lingard fired United ahead in the match after terrific work from Anthony Martial, while Casemiro levelled for Los Blancos in the second half from the spot.

When the match needed to be decided on a shootout, United won 2-1.

Bad news for Ander Herrera

But the match wasn’t all good news for the Red Devils.

Early in the contest, Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera was forced off the pitch in pain.

Herrera was on the receiving end of a meaty challenge from Oscar Rodriguez, and he immediately was hauled off the pitch.

Jose Mourinho’s assessment

After the match, Mourinho was drawn into discussing Herrera’s injury, however the Special One didn’t reveal too much. He told MUTV:

I don’t know [how bad it is]. Ander had to come out after 10 minutes.

It was painful… but sometimes painful does not mean too bad.
Jose on Herrera: "At least very painful. I want to wait + see what it is. No risk in friendlies. If you think something is coming, get off"

Post match footage

After the game, BBC journalist Simon Stone recorded footage of Herrera leaving the stadium.
While the Spaniard was without crutches or any other walking assistant, it’s clear he was in pain as he walked gingerly out the arena.
