BAD FOR THE BLUES: Belgian Attacker Refusing to Sing New Chelsea Deal

Sunday 5 November 2017

Chelsea could be about to lose yet another bright star with reports from France claiming that Charly Musonda has demanded a transfer away from the Premier League champions.

Arsenal are believed to be the frontrunners for his signature as he has grown frustrated with the lack of first team opportunities at Stamford Bridge this season.

According to Foot Mercato, the Gunners are ready to make a “firm offer” for the Belgian youngster in order to convince him to remain in London.

Musonda has started just two games so far this season – both of them in the Carabao Cup – and has seen limited action in the league with his only Premier League minutes coming as a replacement in the Blues’ defeats to Burnley and Crystal Palace.

He scored on his full debut for Chelsea in a 5-1 win over Championship side Nottingham Forest in the cup but, although he is not a traditional central midfielder, Antonio Conte has not called on the 21-year-old to ease his midfield crisis this season.

Three of the Blues’ four senior central midfielders – N’Golo Kante, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater – have missed time through injury while Cesc Fabregas also served an early-season suspension.

If he were to leave, it would be a big blow to the Blues who already lost youngster Nathaniel Chalobah to Watford on a permanent move over the summer for similar reason, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek was send on loan to Palace as he demanded more game time.

Musonda has not made any secret of his unhappiness with his lack of first-team minutes and posted a thinly-veiled rant on his Instagram account about it, although it was later removed.

It is believed that the Belgian is refusing to sign a new contract with the Blues and may force the club to cash in on him in the summer before he enters the final year of his contract at the beginning of next season.
