Former Juventus manager was desperate to bring in attacking reinforcements ahead of the 2017/18 season but had to settle with only Alvaro Morata coming through the doors at Stamford Bridge.

Italian boss wanted to sign Fernando Llorente to be Morata’s mentor at the club but Mauricio Pochetino’s Tottenham beat their London rivals to a deal for the 32-year-old Spanish forward on deadline day.

The Telegraph claim that The Blues would have let the 24-year-old Belgian striker leave on loan if they had landed Fernando Llorente and the west London club are ready to get rid of the Belgian forward once again.

It’s suggested that Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke is No.1 option, while Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy and Red Star Belgrade’s Richmond Boakye are all on Chelsea’s radar, with the Italian manager determined to bring in a quality understudy to Alvaro Morata.

The former Real Madrid striker has scored seven goals in his opening nine matches for the Premier League champions, while Batshuayi has only scored five goals so far this season.

Conte has previously admitted that his squad lacks the depth to compete with the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City.
