Thierry Henry: What I think of Chelsea's Premier League chances next season

Monday, 22 May 2017

CHELSEA will find it difficult to retain their Premier League crown next season.

That’s the opinion of Arsenal legend Thierry Henry who believes a return to the Champions League will make things challenging for Antonio Conte.

Chelsea won the Premier League title this season, finishing seven points ahead of Tottenham.

“The manager has to be on your toes, in your face,” Henry said on Sky Sports.

“You reach a level of complacency, not on purpose, but you do in a certain way.

“You think it's going to be as easy as you had it the year before and you forget how you win the league again but this man won't let it happen.

“Having said that, are they going to win the league again? It's going to be a different ball game for them next season.

“They are going to be in the Champions League, they are going to need a bigger squad. It was easier for them to play one game in a week, it was a bit more difficult at the end because the FA Cup came along, disturbing the schedule of the Premier League

“They are going to have to deal with that next season but trust me, if there is one guy that's going to be in their face and make sure they're not going to slip is Antonio Conte.

“Having said that, it's not going to be easy to retain it.”

Chelsea have already completed their first piece of transfer business this summer selling Juan Cuadrado on a permanent deal to Juventus.
